Vienna Public Transport

Vienna has a well-developed public transport network. Buses, trains,
trams and underground lines will take you almost anywhere in the city
in no time at all. Vienna public transport Wiener Linien operates five
underground lines, 31 tram and 80 bus lines, of which 21 are night
lines. Night lines only operate between 0.30 am and 5 am. The Wiener
Linien vehicle fleet currently consists of 600 tramcars and 500 buses.

Vienna public transport is part of the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region VOR
(transport association for Austria's eastern regions). Verkehrsverbund
Ost-Region is split into eight zones and includes parts of Lower
Austria, the Burgenland and all of Vienna. The city of Vienna accounts
for one full zone or core zone (Kernzone or "Zone 100"). A single
ticket is valid for travelling one way in one zone. You may change to
different lines in the course, but you may not interrupt your journey.
Single tickets can be purchased at a price of EUR 1.50.

Where to buy a ticket

Validated tickets can be used for all public transport in the core
zone. Tickets are available at ticket machines at most underground
stations or at points of advance sale. Tobacconists also sell tickets.
You may also purchase a ticket on board the bus or tram at an
increased rate of two Euro per ticket.

Passes

Apart from single tickets there are passes for longer periods of time.
Passes are available for 24 hours and 72 hours, or as weekly, monthly
or annual passes.

How to validate your ticket

Tickets must be validated before boarding. To validate your ticket
stamp the ticket at the blue machines located at the entrance of
underground stations as well as on buses and trams. Tickets bought
directly from the tram or bus driver are automatically validated and
need not be stamped again.

Travel insurance

While it is generally recommended that you take out travel insurance
prior to any trip abroad you may still avail yourself of the Austrian
health system without travel insurance should you fall sick during
your travels through Austria. EU citizens must fill in form sheet E
111 to make use of medical services in Austria.

Currency

The currency in Austria is the Euro. The current exchange rate is
roughly 1.45 Euro to the pound.

General Information
What to expect: The eight-story Kyriad Paris Bercy Expo is set on a tree-lined street at the edge of a commercial area two blocks from Village de Bercy. The hotel occupies a modern-style concrete building with geometrically spaced glass, metal bay windows, and horizontal metal railings. The large, glass-fronted lobby is designed with white-metal pillars and decorated with red fabrics. A white-metal staircase leads to a mezzanine-level conference area. Guests are a mix of business travelers and vacationers.

Amenity highlights: There are two air-conditioned meeting rooms and a mezzanine-level "business corner" with computer, printer, and high-speed Internet access. The front desk is attended 24 hours daily, and concierge services are available.

Insider tip: Village de Bercy (Bercy Village) offers a wealth of wine-inspired venues housed in converted wine warehouses. One of these is Chai 33, a popular bar, restaurant, and wine shop where wines are classified by style rather than region. Also nearby, the UGC cinema shows films in English.

Ancona, the capital of the Marche, is a big seaside city built on two hills with its harbour between them. Ancona was settled by both the Greeks and the Romans and was an important port in the middle ages. Unfortunately Ancona was bombed during World War II and then hit by an earthquake in 1972 but some of its old buildings still remain. There are good views from the high parts of the town.
